Here are 10 self-care Ideas you can do at home to pamper yourself. We all need a little pampering from time to time, but we don’t always want to leave the house. Especially if you work full-time away from your house or are short on cash. I hope the below self-care ideas will give you inspiration. You can indulge yourself with all these in one day if you want to give yourself the spa experience, or you can do them here and there whenever you have some free time.

- Make yourself a really nice breakfast. Whatever that means for you, be it bacon and eggs, oatmeal with berries, or a smoothie bowl. Take time to really celebrate the new morning by making yourself something you love to eat, but don’t usually take the time to make. Then sit down at the table (without social media) and be present with your meal. Take the time to enjoy each bite and be present. Not only will this start your day off with positivity, but your food will also digest better leading to better health overall.
- Prior to your shower put on a hair mask. I have used both coconut oil and olive oil for this. They are both very nourishing. Use whichever you have. Put your hair up in a clip and then wrap it in a damp warm towel around it and let all the good nourishing lipids soak in.
- Dry brush your body. Dry brushing has been around for thousands of years. It is said to help with everything from improving circulation and lymphatic drainage to reducing cellulite. In addition, it physically exfoliates the skin on your body which gets rid of dead skin cells and helps your skin be smoother. If you don’t know what dry brushing is, it is the act of taking a small handheld brush, preferably with natural bristles, and brushing up your legs and arms towards your heart. You can buy dry brushes just about everywhere now.
- Give yourself a comforting, warm, oil massage. This is an excellent step to do after you have completed dry brushing. Oil massage, also known as abhyanga in Ayurveda, is also an ancient practice that has the benefit of relaxing you while increasing circulation and lymph flow. You can use whatever oil you have on hand. Put a half cup in a bottle that you can use to squeeze it out of. Then heat it by placing it in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes. Add an essential oil of your choice. Lavender, rosemary, and eucalyptus are some good ones to add to your oil. Start by massaging the oil into your scalp and then move down over your body. Use long firm strokes on your arms and legs and circular motions around your trunk and joints. Just like with dry brushing you want to start on the ends of your arms and legs and work inwards toward your trunk.
- Take a warm bath. Shut out the world and just soak your body in a warm bath scented with essential oil. Use this time to let your body and mind fully relax. Disconnect. Let the tension melt out of you. If you have sore muscles add some Epsom Salts to your bath as well. It’s also lovely to add some flower petals to your water.
- Put on a DIY face mask. If you have a store-bought face mask that you love then by all means use it, but if not there are a lot of really good DIY face mask recipes out there. One of my favorites is a simple combination of some lemon juice mixed with honey. This always brightens my skin and leaves it glowing. Whatever your skin concerns are, there is going to be a mask you can make from ingredients right inside your kitchen pantry.
- Give yourself a mani-pedi. I love to go get my nails done but I don’t love the cost. It seems so frivolous to spend money on something that doesn’t last more than a couple of weeks. Taking the time to give yourself a real manicure and pedicure is real luxury. So pull out all your girl tools and go to town trimming those cuticles, giving yourself a hand and foot massage, shaping those nails, and more. Go through the steps just like you would if you were at a medi spa having it done. Swipe on some good, fast-drying polish and you will feel like a million bucks.
- Sequester yourself away to a quiet place and read a good book. Read something that intrigues you and causes your mind to expand. Or something that makes you smile. Reading allows us to be somewhere else, focusing on something else, and often we feel refreshed after spending time with a good book.
- Spend time in nature. Nature has healing power. We were meant to be a part of the natural world. Being outside restores us on many levels. In addition to increasing our dopamine levels and decreasing our cortisol levels, being outside is said to lower blood pressure, help with sleep, make you more creative, and the list goes on. So basically, if you want to be a happier person spend time outside. Perhaps the best part of this is that it’s completely free. It costs nothing to take a walk or weed your garden. You get the added benefit of soaking in some vitamin D from the sun which is helpful in preventing all kinds of diseases.
- Spend time on your skin routine. This is one of those things that most of us ignore when we are younger, but then one day we look in the mirror and the reality of that choice is staring back at us. Make your skin routine something you look forward to. Block out a time in your day that is just for you. Enjoy putting on all of your products, doing some facial yoga, and using your beauty tools. Improving your skin will give you confidence, and confidence is a beautiful thing.
I hope that you found these self-care ideas to do at home helpful and they gave you some inspiration. It is important that we show ourselves love and care just like we do others. Spending time pampering ourselves is necessary to refuel and restore us so that we have more to give. Working on your hair, nails, and body also helps us to look and feel better about ourselves. So pamper away my friend, pamper away.
