Finding the best skincare products for acne can be a challenge. Acne products should be two things: 1. Affordable and 2. Effective. Unfortunately, many acne skin care products on the market are either one or the other, or neither. Below I am sharing with you the acne products that have worked for me. That’s not to say that I never have an acne breakout (oh dream) but rather that they keep my breakouts fewer and less severe than they are otherwise. All of these products are budget friendly and last for a good amount of time for the price tag. Let’s dive into my recommendations

1. The Perfector Salicylic Acid Body Wash from Naturium
The body wash has encapsulated time-released salicylic acid. It has Glycerin which is very good for our skin, as well as Safflower Seed oil and olive fruit oil.
Although this is not marketed as an acne product the salicylic acid in this will unclog pores and gently exfoliate your skin. The oils will nourish your skin and keep it from getting dried out. Together they work to gently exfoliate the skin while leaving it nourished. This is a great body wash to keep in your shower if you suffer from body acne.
2. PanOxyl Acne Creamy Wash
This body wash contains Benzoyl Peroxide at 4%. Because Benzoyl Peroxide is antibacterial it helps with current blemishes but also works to help prevent new breakouts from forming. I rub this all over my back and then let it sit for a few minutes while I do the rest of my shower routine. I alternate nights between the body wash from Naturium and PanOxyl. Both of these can also be used as face wash if you have breakouts on your face. Bonus.
3. Paula’s Choice Clear Acne Body Spray
This spray has 2% Salicylic Acid. It is the product that has made the most difference for me in controlling my back acne which is why I highly recommend it. The spray works well to reach around and spray your own back. I do this daily after my shower for the best results. I let it dry down before getting dressed.
4. Differin Adapalene Gel Acne Treatment
Adapalene is a next-generation retinoid. My dermatologist told me that this is the strongest over-the-counter retinoid product you can buy here. It works in the deep layers of skin to prevent future breakouts.
This is the only product that has ever helped the acne around my chin. If you have stubborn acne and have tried other products without any luck, you should try this product. You have to give it time to work but you will see results. It may be too strong for some people to use on their chest so make sure you test it on a small area for any reaction.
In Conclusion
There are a lot of acne products out there but I find that not many of them work as effectively as they claim. The best skincare products for acne listed above are the ones I have had the most success with on my own skin. That being said, if I am not consistent with using them my acne does flare back up. So consistency is key. Be patient, it takes time for your skin to heal and for you to see results. Give these products a try and let me know if they work for you or if you have any recommendations.
