I really didn’t think that by age 46 I would still be looking for body acne solutions, but here we are. I still have back, and occasionally, chest acne. If this is still an issue for me, I know I can’t be the only one my age who still struggles with this. So let me share with you what has worked for me.
In The Shower

I use three products in the shower specifically for my back acne. I don’t use them at the same time, but rather I alternate days with them.
- Naturium’s The Perfector Salicylic Acid Body Wash. I’m listing this first because this is okay to use every time you shower. Although this body wash has encapsulated Salicylic Acid which gently exfoliates your skin, it also contains Glycerin, Safflower seed oil, and olive fruit oil. Because of this you don’t get any irritation or dry skin. At least I don’t and I have very sensitive skin. This is my every shower body cleanser for my back.
- Joesoef Skin Care Anti-Acne Soap. This is a fairly new favorite, but WOW have I seen a difference since starting to use this. This soap contains natural volcanic sulfur. Cool right? Sulfur works by drying out the surface of the skin to unclog pores. This also has Salicylic Acid in it. Since it is so drying you shouldn’t use it every day. I use it about three times a week. I have not had any irritation from it, even though after I put it on I do let it sit for about a minute to make sure it’s had time to do it’s good work before I rinse it off.
- PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash. This foaming face and body wash has 10% Benzyl Peroxide in it. Benzyl Peroxide is anti-bacterial so it kills acne-causing bacteria. I have been using this product for a long time. I had seen this recommended by several dermatologists on YouTube so I trust that it’s a good product, and like the others mentioned, it’s very affordable. However, it is also drying to the skin so I alternate it with the Joesoef’s Anti-Acne soap. I would recommend that if you try these products you start slow and make sure that they don’t cause any reaction on your skin.
After Shower Care

For a couple of years, I have used Paula’s Choice Clear Acne Body Spray with 2% Salicylic Acid. When I first started using this, I immediately noticed how much clearer my skin was. I put myself on the subscription order, which was sent to me monthly. The short version is –this works.
The challenge with this one is that the spray bottle is not the most convenient. It says that you are able to spray from any angle, and you can. As long as the bottle is full. Once the bottle starts to become emptier the sprayer stops working unless you are holding it upright. Which is not convenient at all when you are trying to spray your own back.
I recently discovered another product that has worked even better for me and has a spray that has changed my life. Okay, maybe a little dramatic, but clear skin is important, right? It’s Bacne Warrior Acne Fighting Spray by Pacifica. This spray also has Salicylic Acid at 2% but in addition it has cucumber, Niacinamide, and Aloe. I’ve been using this for a few months now and this spray has definitely made a difference in the clarity of my skin.
In contrast to Paula’s Choice Clear Acne Body Spray, the spray on the Bacne Warrior bottle is truly impressive. It covers the whole back in seconds, and with this one, you truly can spray from any angle. Win-Win.
In Conclusion
This is my body acne solution. These are the body acne products that I have found that actually make a difference and help me maintain clear skin. I feel confident that if you give these acne products a try you will have good results as well.
