What’s better for your beauty routine than an easy and affordable DIY face mask for mature skin? Not much my friends. I’m going to share with you my two favorite DIY face masks that you can do at home. These are made with good ingredients and are very cost-effective.
Mask #1: Honey and Lemon
This DIY face mask has been a go-to for me for about twenty years. I found it in my early twenties and because of the way it makes my skin look I have been using it ever since. Some of the benefits of this one are the fact that you may already have these ingredients in your kitchen, it’s very low cost, and it uses all natural ingredients that you know are healthy for your skin.
Benefits of honey in DIY face masks for mature skin:
- Naturally antibacterial and anti-inflammatory
- Full of antioxidants which fight the signs of aging
- Fights acne due to its antibacterial properties
- Promotes healing
- Fades dark spots
- Brightens the complexion
- Provides serious hydration
Benefits of Lemon in DIY face masks for mature skin:
- Contains Citric Acid which brightens skin and lightens dark spots
- Full of antioxidants that fight the signs of aging
- Fades Acne Scars
- Acts as a natural exfoliant
- Antibacterial and Antimicrobial
- Fights Acne
Here is the simple recipe for this easy DIY face mask:
- Add 1/2 fresh lemon to a small cup
- Add 1 tbs raw, unfiltered, honey to the cup
- Stir until well mixed
- Using a small beauty spatula (or your fingers) apply to your entire face
- Wait 15 to 20 minutes and then wash off with warm water (it tastes good so I sometimes lick off the area around my mouth)
- Reveal your radiant glowing skin!
Mask #2: Customizable at home face mask
For this DIY Face mask you are going to need a few things. First, you will need compressed paper face masks from Amazon. I have linked some here for you. Next you will need a silicone face mask to put over the paper mask and hold it in place. I have linked the ones I use here.
Now comes the fun part. You can literally customize this mask specifically for your skin needs. For example, I used my Laneige Blue Hyaluronic Toner, Niacinamide, Timeless B5 Hydration serum, and Timeless Synthe Six Peptide serum in my mask. I chose these ingredients because they address the issues I’m working on–hydration and fighting the signs of aging. You can customize this to address your own needs using skincare products that you already own.
How to make this DIY Face mask:
- Put a teaspoon of your favorite toner or essence in a small cup
- Put in a few drops of each of the serums you are using
- Mix the above and then add your paper facemask and watch it soak in the ingredients
- After all of your ingredients have been absorbed into the face mask open it up and lay it on your face
- Put your silicone mask over your paper mask to lock in the hydration and keep it on your face
- Leave on for about 20 minutes and then remove.
- Massage in any remaining mixture of your serums that’s on your skin
Both of these DIY face masks for mature skin are an easy and affordable way to pamper your skin. The Honey Lemon Face mask leaves your skin hydrated and glowing. The customizable mask is able to target any specific needs your skin has. I would love to hear your thoughts if you try these. Enjoy my friends.
