For Anti-Aging
The Ordinary is known for providing no-nonsense skin care products with good ingredients at affordable prices. Equally, the sheer number of choices can be overwhelming for people to navigate. Especially if you are new to skincare. Here are my suggestions on where to start, and what to invest in if you are looking for the best of The Ordinary.

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
In my opinion, the best all-around product to use on a regular basis is Niacinamide. It’s such a powerhouse ingredient for a relatively inexpensive price. Safe to use every day, Niacinamide, which is vitamin B3, has been proven to help with texture, dryness, dullness, congestion, and blemishes. Over time, consistent use also helps the skin barrier. The Oridnary’s Niacinamide serum is water based and contains 10% Niacinamide complimented by 1% Zinc.
All of that sounds great, but I love this serum because I actually see results when I’m using it. Unlike so many skin care products where you apply them and hope they are penetrating and doing what they say, this Niacinamide serum provides visible evidence of skin brightening.
Lactic Acid

There are many different types of acids out there that work as chemical exfoliants for the skin. Unfortunately, I have to be very careful which ones I use on my sensitive skin. Lactic Acid is one of the gentlest AHAs available.
I am able to use the Lactic Acid serum from The Ordinary a couple of times a week without my skin having a reaction. This serum also has Sodium Hyaluronate in it so it’s hydrating as well. If you have sensitive skin and have trouble using other AHA’s I would give this one a try.
In my humble opinion, based on my own personal experience, the two serums above are the best of The Ordinary. However, there are many great products from The Ordinary and I have definitely not tried them all. I am going to list some of the other skincare products they offer that I think are very good and that I have used and really enjoyed.
- Multi-Peptide + HA Serum. This powerful little serum contains all kinds of goodies for your skin including Peptides Synthe 6 and Matrixyl 3000, Hyaluronic Acids, and Amino Acids. When I was using this regularly it was called “The Buffet” but they have renamed it and I have to say that when I was reading the ingredient list again for this blog post I added it to my cart because I was so impressed. If you want to fight the signs of aging this serum will be your friend.
- Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid. This is an antioxidant serum. It is a light, oil-based serum that fights oxidative stress to help with the signs of aging. If you are someone who struggles with Vitamin C serums then this may be a good option for you. I think that Resveratrol is a fabulous alternative to other antioxidant serums. The only thing I will caution is that when I was using this it did leave a bit of a tacky feeling behind.
- Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%. My third favorite product from The Ordinary, after the Niacinamide and Lactic Acid mentioned above, is their Azelaic Acid Suspension. Azelaic Acid brightens skin and helps with texture, but my favorite quality is that it helps with acne. Win-win-win!
I hope that you find these recommendations helpful if you are looking for quality skincare products at affordable prices. You don’t have to pay outrageous prices to take good care of your skin. Just add a few good-quality products into your routine to target your specific concerns. The skin care products listed above are a very good place to start.
